THE CLASS!!

For this blog i would like to talk about how great this class was. I have enjoyed it a lot and really like all the papers and projects we did. I had a lot of fun being able to speak up and give opinions on matters i sometimes don't get a chance to. It was a well planned course that helped me become a better speaker and paper writer. It has helped inform me about what is going on in the world today and has made me more knowledgeable in today's society. This had to have been the best english class i've had in all my years of english. It really focused on what we had to say and what we thought and helped us put those thoughts into our own words smart and correctly. i loved this class!!

Progress

Ok so i thought we were supposed to give a progress after the project like areview thing......well that was dumb of me. anyway i thought i project went really well. everyone did there part and worked really hard. nobody slacked off and they all did what they said they'd do and did a good job of doing it so i think it went really well. GOOD JOB GUYS!!!

DCI

Well, it's the time of year to get ready for drum corps auditions, and this yar im going for two. I'm going for capitol regiment, and bluecoats. I have both of the audition packets and have been working really hard on them. the material is alot harder than last year but im doing my best to be able to play it as well as i can. I do think i have a better chance this year than last but, it'll be really tough. Both of the groups are better than they used to be and now everyone wants them so the competition will be fierce. Oh well, i love it and am excited to do it

School

So far school is going really well.......other than it's really hard, I really had no idea how hard music really is, i mean i always knew it was hard but....not this hard. I'm having fun dont get me wrong but there is just soooo much to do that it's hard to find the time to do it all. People are alwas saying go be social, well, the most social i am is with the practice room and homework. This is certainly different than high school, duh, but it's harder than i expected. I just have to do my best and hope it pays off.

Teaching

I dont have alot to say but being an insructor is really really fun. I'm the drumline instructor for southport high school and i must say it is very different than actually being on the line. It's hard sometimes to know when enough is enough but i think i do pretty well. I had to yell at my kids for the first time the other day and it was kinda weird, but overall, I'm having alot of fun because i want to teach and this is certainly giving me the experience i need

Bluecoats Audition.

So last november i went to go audiotion for a Drum Corps called The Bluecoats. I was really excited to go but very nerveous at the same time, comming from a somewhat small school, i was going from a small drumline to a proffesional level drumline. When i got there i saw tons and tons of people, i was auditioning on snare and there were 5 spots available and 70 people going for those spots. now i had been practicing for a long time but i was just not up to this level and as the weekend went on i had played more than in two days then ever before and when it came down to it i didnt get invited back but got an amazing experience out of it. I believe i became a faster better player that weekend and am excited to go back and try again this year.....i will get into more detail when i write the memoir.

I've never blogged before, but i'll make my first about how i think educators are mistreated and under paid. When you look at some of the highest paying jobs such as pro sports, doctors, vets. etc. i don"t see how those jobs are more important than a teacher. If you think about it, A lot of pro athletes get paid millions of dollars to practice and never even play a game. Why should a "player" of a pro sport who doesn't really play, get more money than a teacher. Lets think about it, would that player be where he is if it hadn't been for the coach that taught him what he needed in order to succeed? probably not. Not only did that coach teach him how to play the game but most likely he's also teaching the very same kid in the classroom to be a good student. How does a doctor or vet. know how to save a life? from a teacher. If it wasn't for teachers, we wouldn't have doctors, or sports, or anything else. In my opinion i believe the most valuable job to have is that of a teacher. Their is nothing more rewarding than to know you made a difference in a child's life and helped them become the pro they are. But at the same time, teachers don't really seem to get the respect they deserve. So maybe the next time you are sick or your sports team wins a championship, instead of just thanking them for there efforts, thank a teacher for producing the hero's you have and making it possible to have role models to look up to.
